Moving light - Circa 1987, the first computer-controlled stage lighting fixtures, called moving lights or intelligent fixtures, began to gain widespread acceptance in the concert industry. These fixtures slowly started being used in a more 'traditional' theatrical environment, and are currently used in almost all major theatrical productions.

Skyglow - Skyglow (or sky glow), a form of light pollution, is the bright orange glow seen over many cities and towns. It is caused by the combined effect of the many electric lighting fixtures that shed light above the horizontal in urban areas, and results in only the brightest stars and planets being visible.

Rail (theater) - In theater, a rail or batten refers to a long metal pole suspended above the stage (and sometimes above the audience) from which lighting fixtures, theatrical scenery, tabs or other curtains may be hung. Usually these rails can be raised or lowered into a fly tower, both for ease of use, and to achieve an effect whereby the suspended items appear to "fly" in or out during a performance.
